Weaving Workshops at We Weave the Woods

FREE family-friendly weaving workshops throughout our We Weave the Woods weekend at Beechenhurst, Speech House Road, Coleford, GL16 7EJ

Come and join weaving workshops led by our three resident crafts women Collette Davies, Lottie Jones and Hannah Green. This is your opportunity to work with amazing skilled weavers and add either add to our amazing wood-based art piece Connect/Cysylltu, or else make something to take away. 

Colette Davies lives and works in Monmouthshire. She weaves beautiful, traditional, and contemporary baskets, from English rush and other natural materials, using a range of techniques including plaiting, weaving, coiling, and stitching.

Colette has a particular interest in using plant materials that she either grows herself or gathers in her local environment. She is inspired by the natural world around her and the details she finds in organic forms. Exploring the play of colour, lines of stitching and the texture of plant fibres is fascinating to her, and her work often crosses over into what she describes as, textile baskets.

Colette is a member of The Basketmakers Association, The Heritage Crafts Association and The Makers Guild Wales.

Lottie Jones: Lottie is a skilled printmaker, weaver and inspirer of young people and adults to explore their wilder sides.

Hannah Green is an artist specialising in installation and creating experiences. Currently working with 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space as a maker and artist, they are creating their own work as an artist combining their love of the natural world, puppetry and sound.
