Sound Forest

A full afternoon of making and song curated by WVRF Musical director Tim Hill, inspired by May Day traditions from around the world, as part of our Merry Monmouth Day celebrations.

12 noon – 5pm Saturday 4 May, Drybridge Park, Monmouth, NP25 5AS

Come and play with sound and nature with extraordinary musicians and singers, be a part of workshops or take the chance to just sit back and listen amongst the trees.

The Sound Forest is a space to wander and wonder, listening to sounds, poems and music inspired by earth and woods, make a beautiful Singing Tree and play along with birdsong.

Listen to performances including:

  • Lyndon Owen, playing and improvising on Welsh folk instruments
  • Fiona Taylor, local flautist and composer inspired by bird song
  • Rhys Trimble, the ‘Avant Bard’ and his feral hoard of words
  • Michael Fairfax, who makes great stringed instruments hewn from the wood around his home.
  • And, of course, The Wodwose, our Wye Valley River Festival band

Join in with our workshops:
