Join us in Monmouth for an exciting series of workshops where you will find inspiration from nature’s diversity and design to make beautiful and vibrant banners for pride events in the Wye Valley!

Book here! (the workshops are free to attend but booking is essential)

Queering the Wye is delighted to be working with Hay Pride, Abergavenny Pride, Monmouth Pride, and Pride in Gloucestershire in Spring to deliver these amazing workshops. If you can’t join us in Monmouth, why not try our Hay-on-Wye or Abergavenny sessions?

Our PRIDE BANNER AND SCREEN PRINTING WORKSHOPS are the perfect opportunity to express yourself and connect with the queer community in rural Wales and Herefordshire, UK.

Get ready to unleash your artistic side as we guide you through the process of creating a series of large vibrant banners that tour the Pride events. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a total beginner, our friendly instructors will ensure you have a blast and leave with a masterpiece. The workshops are part of a series but you can join one or more of them to suit you.

    Workshop one: inspiration and design

On 4th February 2pm-6pm, we are delighted to welcome NINA SCOTT from BE MORE MUSHROOM to run their workshops at the Bridges Centre. In the first half of the session we will learn the basics of mycology and queer theory.

After this we shall Make Music like Mushrooms and co-create songs using methods inspired by the queerness of fungi. These sessions will inspire our design work for the Pride banners.

Workshops two and three: printing the banners

We are working with Nichola Goff who will lead printmaking sessions and explore a variety of tools and techniques to produce beautiful and ethically sourced silk banners. These workshops will take place 4pm-7pm on 23rd April and 27th May, at The Attik and are suitable for all ages.

You’ll find a welcoming and inclusive space where you can be your authentic self. Meet like-minded individuals, make new friends, and embrace the power of unity and self-expression.

Book here! (the workshops are free to attend but booking is essential – just choose your date/s)
