Merry Monmouth Mischief Day

Join WVRF for a cornucopia of family-friendly free entertainment, performance, music and merriment taking over the streets of Monmouth.

Expect circus, street theatre, music, parades and more from 11am – 5pm!

The festival theme of Human ⇋ Nature has inspired local groups during the Spring to create curious creatures, weird machines and family-friendly performances, many of whom will take part in our midday street parade as well as popping up throughout the town for performances. Artists and performers include :

• Circii – The Pigeons
• Pif Paf  – ‘SEED’ – a poetic, anarchic & inspiring hitch-hike on the journey from small Acorns to great Oak trees (please note that one of these performances will have BSL interpretation)
• Festival favourites Rag n Bone bring new creations Jabberwocky and Obby Oss to town
• WVRF’s own bicycle powered performance troupe The Bikesplorers will arrive en route from Tintern for performance and the parade
• Circo Rum Baba
• Engage Circus and Savoy Youth Theatre present brand new shows at the Bridges Centre
• Taking Flight Theatre presents Honour and Cherish, a show about a bride-zilla and her long-suffering mother in BSL and English
• Our amazing, hard blowing, funky street band The Wod Wos trio
• The Wheelabouts: Searching the planet Earth for signs of intelligent life, ‘AILEEN THE ALIEN’ will swoop around in her flying saucer, aided by her alien friend ‘Bubbles’ and astronaut pal ’Buzz’, checking out us humans with a host of comedy props and games…. she might even have to get out The Probe…!  with support from Arts Council Wales.

Fe fydd yna syrcas, theatr stryd, cerddoriaeth, gorymdeithiau a mwy rhwng 11am a 5pm!

Mae thema’r ŵyl o Ddynoliaeth ⇋ Natur wedi ysbrydoli grwpiau lleol yn ystod y Gwanwyn i greu creaduriaid chwilfrydig, peiriannau rhyfedd a pherfformiadau sy’n addas i deuluoedd, a bydd llawer ohonynt yn cymryd rhan yn ein gorymdaith stryd ganol dydd yn ogystal â pherfformio yn y dref. Eisteddwch yn ôl a gwyliwch… neu ymunwch!

• Acrojou – ‘All at Sea’ – perfformiad mewn cwch sy’n rhwyfo’n hamddenol drwy lanw a thrai’r byd o’n cwmpas. Mae teithiwr yn mynd ar siwrnai dros gefnfor eang o atgofion a gobeithion y gorffennol, ynghyd â’i storm bersonol ei hun. Bydd y sioe yma ar Sgwâr Agincourt.

• Bydd criw perfformwyr ar feic WVRF – The Bikesplorers – yn cyrraedd ar y daith o Dyndyrn i berfformio ac ymuno yn yr orymdaith

• Mae Engage Circus yn cyflwyno eu sioe Spirits of the Light and Dark
• Mae Taking Flight Theatre yn cyflwyno Honour and Cherish, sioe am briodferch a’i mam, dwy sy’n llawn helbul, yn BSL a Saesneg
• Ein band stryd ffynci anhygoel triawd The Wod Wos

The Parade! 12 noon down monnow street

Lots of groups have been involved with creating our parade, with puppet designs and workshops by Stephanie Reeves, Ashley Peevor and Herford Carnival Arts.

The parade will include:

• Carnival Arts Group

• Engage Youth Circus & The ‘Splorers at Arts Space Cinderford
• Ross Brownies and Cubs Group
• Weaving threads and growing wings: a project for young people making banner flags with natures colour and thoughts of freedom.
• The Wheelabouts – Aileen the Alien
• Jabberwocky & Obby Oss from Rag & Bone
• Rimski’s Bicycle Piano
• Wye Valley River Festival Bikesplorers
• Wod Wos Band
