Esther May Campbell Wye Wonderment photo exhibition

FREE photo exhibition at The Old Station Tintern, Tintern Heights, Catbrook, Brockweir, Chepstow NP16 7NX*

Using ‘ancient’ analogue cameras, in autumn 2023 artist Esther May Campbell led young people from the Wye Valley into the woods and a world of possibility, with prompts from the children of The Kitchen Table Photo Club in Bristol. Together they co-created these magical images exploring wilderness, ancestry, the land and the earth beneath our feet.

Talking, playing, dressing up, they explored the woods, the land, nature, our connection to it and new friendships.

This exhibition highlights some of the images they created and depicts the growing creative relationship between two groups of young people, exploring their very different ‘ home environments‘ – Wye Valley and Bristol.

General and Access Information

• The photos are on display in both the old railway carriage and the cafe at Old Station Tintern which are only open during normal opening hours 10am-4pm Tuesday-Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday.
• There is step-free access to these spaces and they are wheelchair accessible, although large wheelchairs may find the railway carriage entrance to be narrow
• The exhibition and cafe are free to enter, but there is a fee to use the car park which goes towards the upkeep of the site
• There are public toilets on site including a disabled toilets and baby-change
• The photos are suitable for all audiences and the whole site is family-friendly
• You may come and go and explore the site and the exhibition as you like

Anything Moving Films

25th May – 3rd June: After the festival we will also screen short films made by Esther with the Kitchen Table Photo Club and display this exhibition at Clearwell Caves, The Rocks, Clearwell, GL16 8JR. Please note that this is a tourist attraction with an entrance fee so please see their website for ticket prices and opening times.
