WVRF 2022’s inspiration is Human⇋ Nature. After two years of pandemic distancing, we ask: How has our relationship with nature changed ? Who are we as part of the natural world ? What is in our nature ? What next ? And what can we do now ?

Our Festival Ensemble, the Bikesplorers, cycled through the valley, looking for Thrutopia. There were street parades, picnics, film screenings, wondrous creatures, performances and foraging walks. The mysterious Whistlers took up residence in Symonds Yat, and sound installations filled the beautiful ruins of Tintern Abbey.

Over 20,000 people came along to join us, and over 6000 people joined us for 169 workshops and activities – making ceramics, shows, creatures for our street parades, foraging, dancing, singing and drumming on trees.
